The Spanish Government has set 30 June 2026 as the deadline for the extraordinary regularisation process. Arranging sworn translations well in advance is advisable to avoid delays in the filing process.
Documents requiring sworn translation
Any document issued in a language other than Spanish must be accompanied by an official sworn translation. This requirement applies to all foreign documents, particularly criminal record certificates issued in the country of origin.
Translations must be performed by a sworn translator appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEC). Please note that many foreign documents also require The Hague Apostille or the corresponding diplomatic legalisation to be valid.
Providing sworn translations upfront prevents unnecessary delays in a process with a strict deadline.
